Please join us on Thursday, June 23, 2016, as the Tribe will be hosting an informative historical lecture at Andres Pico Adobe (also known as Romulo Pico Adobe) (see map below) from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm!
We urge you to arrive at 6:30 pm for seating. The presentation begins at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm. Questions will begin at 8:00 pm and will end at 8:30 pm.
The Keynote Speaker is Rudy Ortega, Jr., Tribal President and Spiritual Leader for the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians.
This presentation will focus on the distinct and extensive community of the lineages and villages that make up the present-day Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians (Tribe). It begins with the lifeways of the indigenous peoples before they were enslaved at Mission San Fernando, and continues through the Mission and Mexican periods. The Tribe’s ancestors maintained their lineage communities and continued to hold land through the Mexican period, until forcefully dispossessed in the American period. This presentation ends in the American period, in which we are currently living, and provides details on the tribe’s current affairs and government.
Please submit your attendance on Facebook by clicking here. We hope to see you there!!!
