On Friday, September 30, 2016, Fernandeño Tataviam Tribal President Rudy Ortega, Jr., and tribal citizens Caroline Ward Holland and son Kagen Holland, were among the many that presented their support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to the Los Angeles City Council.
Many indigenous peoples from across the Americas travelled great distances to express their support for the protectors of the land. Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell closed with a speech illustrating the truth behind the destructive pipeline.
Watch the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approve a resolution (15-0002-S220) supporting the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s opposition to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline here.
