The Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Manager works under the supervision of the THCP Director toward the preservation, protection, and management of the ancestors, sacred objects, archaeological sites, properties, and archives significant to Fernandeño Tataviam history and culture. The CRM Manager will work collaboratively across all divisions of the THCP Department to uplift the archaeological and cultural goals of the FTBMI. Our long-term goal is to ensure a healthy environment and protected resources for the future seven generations by building the FTBMI’s capacity to protect its traditional lands and culture.

JOB TITLE: Cultural Resources Management Manager

JOB TYPE: Full Time

Compensation: $26 – $32

REPORTS TO: THCP Director, or designee

ANTICIPATED HIRE DATE: December 2024

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory Role: Advise the THCP Director on the identification, preservation, protection, restoration, and maintenance of Tribal Cultural and Archaeological Resources.
  • Client Relations: Manage relationships with new and existing clients to optimize revenue, margins, and business growth opportunities.
  • Representation: Represent the Division at national, regional, and local meetings, conferences, and training events.
  • Business Development: Formulate and implement business development plans to expand FTBMI’s impact in the CRM market and strengthen client relationships.
  • Consultation: Oversee and conduct consultations for projects within FTBMI’s traditional territory, preparing detailed reports and correspondence.
  • Software & Database Management: Utilize and maintain the THCP Department’s software and databases.
  • Contract Management: Oversee daily operations of monitoring contracts, manage the Tribal Monitor Manager, assist the Tribal Monitor Manager in developing monitoring schedules, and ensure timely invoicing and billing records.
  • Training & Education: Promote and potentially provide archaeological and cultural resources training to Tribe employees and Tribal citizens.
  • Reporting: Prepare status reports on cultural resources, consultation applications, monitoring projects, and other CRM-related activities.
  • Other CRM Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Director or THCP Committee.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Proven track-record of participating in business development efforts
  • Very comfortable using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat. Working knowledge of GIS
  • Solid presentation skills and experience presenting at workshops, and community meetings
  • Ability to Work independently, handle multiple priorities and tight timelines
  • Remain flexible and adapt to multiple processes prone to change
  • Exercise sound judgment, and acclimate to adaptive project management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have intermediate or higher MS Office software skills and be able to create and manage excel or excel like spreadsheets and create PowerPoints.
  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier, and proof of insurance
  • Must be dependable, punctual, self-directed, willing to take initiative, detail-oriented, and courteous and personable when dealing with the public

Recommended Education: 

  • Experience in Project Management (not required)
  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Anthropology, or a related field (not required)

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Duties are performed primarily in the office, but also in the field. Travel is required to various locations in the region for meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, and site visits. Some evening and weekend events will be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     • Ability to work in a standard office setting, with considerable sitting and viewing of monitor.
    • Requires reaching continually throughout the workday (mouse, keyboard, and telephone).

    • Occasionally involves fieldwork, which is subject to the environmental conditions of the season.
    • Ability to walk or hike up to a mile periodically
