On March 11, 2018, Tribal Senate passed the reopening of enrollment for membership in the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. Enrollment formally opens June 1, 2018.

Please read categories A through C to determine which one applies to you.

CATEGORY A

Your ancestor must be identified as fernandeño, neophyte or neofita from San Fernando, San Fernando Indian, American Indian or Indian, or Tataviam, on the following documents: Federal roll or record recognized by the Tribe listing Indians from San Fernando, the Mission San Fernando, or any village within the Tribe’s traditional territory that’s listed on this document (click). 

List of rolls that are recognized by the Tribe are the following:

  • Seventh Census of the United States: 1850
  • the Eighth Census of the United States: 1860
  • the Ninth Census of the United States: 1870
  • the Tenth Census of the United States: 1880
  • or the roll of California Indians prepared pursuant to Section 7 of the Act of May 18, 1928 (45 Stat. 602), as amended by the Act of April 29, 1930 (46 Stat. 259), and by the Act of June 30, 1948 (62 Stat. 1166), and by the Act of May 24, 1950 (64 Stat. 189), and by the Act of September 21, 1968 (82 Stat. 860);

CATEGORY B

  1. Any person who is a lineal descendant (son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, etc.) of an ancestor who is listed on the records above, AND;
  2. Who can demonstrate that their lineal ancestor maintained tribal relations prior to 1968;

CATEGORY C

If you are eligible to enroll under Category B, you are required to provide evidence that your ancestor maintained Tribal Relations prior to 1968.
