BRINGING THE HOLIDAYS TO TATAVIAM FOSTER YOUTH
San Fernando, California. The Council of Elders of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians (“the Tribe”) is organizing the 2019 Tribal Foster Youth Toy Drive to help raise money or toys for the Tribe’s foster youth from November 1 through December 9, 2019.

The Council of Elders is comprised of elders selected to help provide guidance to the Tribe. Those members are Ted Garcia (Chair) Beverly Folkes (Vice-Chair), Kathy Ann Flores (Secretary), Bernice Frances Cooke, Dennis Garcia, Ted Garcia, and Alan Salazar.
The Tribe’s children in dependency range from infant to teens. Sample gift ideas for age ranges:
Infant-toddler | books, blankets, clothes, baby toys, developmental toys |
3-7 year old | puzzles, board games, art sets, science kit |
8-12 year old | board games, books, puzzles, building blocks, cars |
Teens | gift card, art supplies, bath gift set |
Other gift ideas for youth may include a shawl, beaded jewelry, or other cultural items.
