Located high above the canyon, this rock shelter contained Tataviam artifacts that have long since been collected. Near the village site Camulus, Bower’s Cave remains sacred and a significant site of spiritual value.

Chiquita Canyon Landfill Project (CCLP)

We identified cultural resources within the CCLP proposed grading and excavation site. Tataviam entered into negotiation with CCL for the proposed grading and excavation to be adjusted to exclude the cultural site. Tataviam were successful in having the grading and excavation plans moved in avoidance of the site, for the sake of its cultural relevance and preservation. Tataviam are providing construction and cultural resource oversight and monitoring to CCL for the CCLP.
