The Tribe proudly announces the expansion of its COVID19 Supportive Service Program. Through this Program, the Tribe is offering services to support its tribal community with food and basic essentials packages, and has expanded to include food vouchers and masks.
Through the generosity of Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, NDN Collective and Los Angeles Native American Indian Commission, the Tribe will continue to support the well-being and health of its tribal community and Indigenous Peoples residing in its homelands.
The Tribe acknowledges the diverse set of barriers facing Indigenous Peoples due to this global pandemic. An internal survey of the Fernandeño Tataviam community indicates families have been impacted by job loss or reduction in work hours, change in behavioral patterns due to physical health limitations, children missing instructional time, lack of access to ceremony and cultural gatherings, and the challenges of meeting the requirements of other systems.
“It is a crucial time to be generous by supporting our families and people in need,” stated Rudy Ortega Jr., Tribal President.
